Dance for the Food

An engaging and interactive project designed to raise awareness about food waste and the inequality in food distribution, and to provide participants with knowledge about environmental good practices, highlighting how reducing food waste contributes to sustainability. This initiative combined creative methods such as games, dance, and cultural exchanges to educate and empower young people to take action against food waste


The project took take place in Ruse, Bulgaria, where 30 participants came together to explore the environmental, social, and health implications of food waste. Through dynamic activities and intercultural exchanges, participants gained a deeper understanding of how food waste affects the planet, communities, their own health, their wellbeing and lifestyles, and how they can contribute to solutions.


The project inspired young people to take initiative by starting online campaigns to address food waste and food distribution inequality within their communities and across Europe.

Who were the participants?

The participants were 30 participants who included groups from Romania, Turkey, and Bulgaria. Each country contributed 10 participants, comprising two individuals aged 18 and older and eight aged between 16 and 24.

Travel Information

Participants from Turkey can travel to Razgrad or Ruse by bus using services like Metro, Nişikli, or Huntur. Those coming from Romania have two options: they either can take a bus to Bucharest, where the organizing team will arrange a transfer, or travel directly to Ruse by bus.

Accommodation and Food

Participants were accommodated in the University of Ruse dormitories, providing a comfortable and convenient setting for the duration of the project. As for food, meals included breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with two coffee breaks each day.

Participants’ Obligations

• Prepare for the intercultural night with a survey on food waste in their country
• Bring food, musical instruments, and costumes for the event
• Actively participate in all project activities
• Share project results with at least 10 peers and submit proof of dissemination
• Attend preparatory online meetings
